DEGREE OF COMPARISON OF ADJECTIVES (TINGKAT PERBANDINGAN KATA SIPAT) • Adjectives quality : 1. Positive 2. Comparative 3. Superlative Ad. 1. Adjective yang terdiri dari satu suku kata , ditambah “er”, untuk comparative, dan untuk superlative ditambah “ est” Example : Positive = tall Comparative = taller Superlative = tallest Ad.2. Adjective untuk positive yang berakhir “ e “ + “ r ” untuk comparative ditambah “ st “ Positive = large Comparative = larger Superlative = largest Ad. 3. Adjective yang berakhir dengan huruf “y “yang didahului huruf konsonan (mati), huruf “y” tersebut diganti menjadi huruf “ i “ + “er” Untuk comparative ,dan untuk superlative + “est” Positive = dry Comparative = drier superlative = driest Ad. 4. Adjective yang berakhir dengan “y” yang didahului huruf hidup + “er” untuk comparative, dan untuk superlative +”est” Positive = gray (kelabu) Comparative = grayer Superlative = grayest Ad. 5. Adjective yang berakhir dengan satu konsonan yang didahului oleh satu vocal, consonan ini didouble dan = “er” untuk comparative, dan untuk superlative + “est” Positive = fat Comparative = fatter Superlative = fattest Ad. 6. Adjective yang terdiri dari 2 suku kata atau lebih, + “more” untuk comparative, dan superlative + “most” 1. Positive = careful Comparative = more careful Superlative = most careful 2. Positive = expensive Comparative = more expensive Superlative = most expensive 3. Positive = stupid Comparative = more stupid Superlative = most stupid Pengecualian : Positive comparative superlative Happy happier happiest Lazy lazier laziest Simple simpler simplest Ad. 7. Adjective yang tidak menurut aturan : Positive comparative superlative Bad work worst Ill worse worst Good better best Late later last Little less least Much more most Many more most Well better best RULE USED 1. TK POSITIVE ……………………AS + POSITIVE + AS ……………….. e.g : your house is as big as my house the way was as long as this way 2. TK COMPARATIVE ……………… NOT SO + POSITIVE + AS ………………….. e.g : Ronald is not so clever as his brother. 2. TK.
